Great Pyrenees A Livestock Guardian Dog

Guardian

The Guardian as I have learned "The Patient Protector" are fascinating. You might find yourself seeking professional help for wandering off, and not coming when called.

They get big and they are powerful when fully grown. I recommend starting the training at a very young age.

They have needs to be met and instincts. As I work with a dog, I always look at the dog in front me. Each is an individual and very unique.

Loose Leash "Walking in Balance"

In this course you will learn where to start training your dog to walk nice on a leash. Walking in balance is important. There is nothing fun about walking a dog that pulls all the time. Pulling causes a lot of pressure on your body and also your dog. You will learn to set up sessions in your home and how to start rewarding your dog for checking in. You will need a harness with both front and back D rings. A six-foot leash or a long line. Starting in a low distraction area of your home and then going outdoors.

Dogs pull for many reasons, and you will find a list in the course.

Training Loose Leash

Using a clicker as a marker and training the dog with a leash on. I first start with the leash off and then add the leash as my training session continues. A Golden Retriever was bred to work alongside the human. There are few Gun Dogs that work away from the human.

Environment

The environment does have an effect on dogs and their learning. If you have ever walked your dog and suddenly your dog has pulled in a direction or just stopped in place and didn't want to move. It's time to check out the environment and listen to your dog. Dogs can be stressed with sudden changes.

Emotions

In this course I don't talk a lot about emotions. But what has emotions got to do with training your dog? Actually, a lot, because your dog feels your emotions. If you feel stressed walking past a house because you may have come upon a loose dog, and you start to become nervous and tighten up on the leash, your dog feels that. When training your dog work in areas where you can feel relaxed and enjoy the training. Choose a good environment, try to avoid areas that cause you stress and stress your dog out too.
